I am one of the worst people to shop for. If I want something, I buy it for myself. I’m proud that I am a young professional woman who works hard, for myself, and buys what I want, for myself. I also know how fortunate I am to be able to do this. But this makes it a total challenge for loved ones trying to nail down the perfect gift come the holidays.
What do you get for the highly motivated, kickass young woman in your life who is difficult to shop for because she already buys what she wants? And what if YOU are that young woman and you’re not sure what to tell your loved ones what you want? I’ve wrapped up some of my personal favorite gifts as inspiration for our first-ever holiday gift guide!
GIFTS BIG AND SMALL
For Your Desk
The right items on your desk or in whatever personal workspace you have make all the difference. It’s the little things that make you feel happy, prepared, and ready to take on the day — and it’s even better when they double as functional. That’s why I absolutely love this desk calendar by KT Smail sold at Anthropologie. Rifle Paper Co. also sells some beautiful floral desk calendars as well as ones featuring major cities around the world.
And what goes with a beautiful desk calendar? A hardbound LifePlanner™ by Erin Condren, the newest addition to her popular line. I love to use mine for every part of life, and the new size fits well in various purses.
For Your Wardrobe
The girl on-the-go always likes to look and feel her best — in whatever makes her the most confident. To me, it’s all in the accessories. I love pieces like this Dainty Sparklers Pearl Cuff from Kate Spade because it is classic, delicate and pairs well with any outfit. Also from Kate Spade but at a high price point are these Sutton Flats, which are not only cute, but comfortable and perfect for both work and play. Cost per wear, as my mom always says.
Scarves are also a great gift. For me, they’re not always something that I look for even though I love them, making them a no-brainer for a present. There’s so much versatility with a scarf in a print that works across your wardrobe. This Checkered Scarf from Lucky Brand goes with just about any winter coat and can be worn as an accessory for different outfits. I don’t have this exact one, but another in a similar checkered style and few days have gone by where I haven’t worn it.
For Your Days Off
I’m all about comfiness on weekends and days off. I recently discovered Athleta’s Restore Joggers and wow… they are incredibly soft (the description is “beyond soft” for a reason), warm, and cozy. While they are on the expensive end, they last.
Then there’s The Cozy Long Bathrobe from Victoria’s Secret, perfect for those winter nights. Plus, you can wear this for any and all portions of those daily routines, from getting ready to post-shower to that bedtime ritual. It is lined with fleece and has a hood for extra warmth.
More than ever, it’s so important to support others and stand for what you believe in. One of the best things you can do this holiday season is to support your gift recipient’s preferred nonprofit organizations. Whether it’s the ACLU, Planned Parenthood, the National Cancer Association, or countless others big and small, it’s the season of giving — and that means giving back and standing together.
STOCKING STUFFERS & OTHER LITTLE THINGS
For Your Every Day
Everyone knows the frustration of needing that one little item to freshen up that’s far, far away in some shelf at home. Enter the Minimergency Kit by Pinch Provisions, the on-the-go life saver. Very practical and very small, these kits are stuffed with personal items. One of the best stocking stuffers.
While candy does the job of a stocking stuffer just fine, there’s added sweetness in giving a favorite body lotion. The Fresh Cream Body Lotion by Philosophy is my all-time favorite lotion for its sweet scent and how well it moisturizes my skin. Smaller sizes are great to carry in your purse too.
I’d love to know, what’s on your holiday wish list?
